Sorry have been very busy over the past few months. Been doing lots of evangelism and bible distribution.
There are many opportunities here in Israel and sadly there is a lot of unrest at the moment and a deterioration in the security situation. Still we press on and take every opportunity.
It’s sad that we change the great commission to Go into all the world and sightsee and not carry out the preaching of the gospel. I saw a group at Christian guest house and I decided to do a survey to see if they understand the gospel. They did not understand that if people don’t believe they will be in Hell for all eternity and in fact someone got angry with me and told me to leave the premises.
It’s sad you can’t even ask questions in many places today and if you challenge people they get angry with you, I learned from a famous preacher that we need to give a short sharp Shock to wake people up from their slumber and especially atheists, if they get offended at the truth it’s actually a good thing.
I go to Poland for two weeks next month to do Evangelism.
We had last month a group of 8 women, you can read Julia’s blog here.
This a short letter by a volunteer after being with us a short time.
My trip to Israel
My time here began on Friday morning with evangelism in the Old City of Jerusalem giving out the Scriptures in numerous languages to the multi-national people present in the city which included Jewish, Arab, European, American and various others. We then moved on to the new city
doing the same and when able, we shared the Gospel message with all the people we met. During this time we came in to contact a man from Hong Kong and a couple from the States who were keen to join.
Friday evening was the weekly trip to Tel Aviv with a team of believers sharing the Gospel where able and again giving the Scriptures in peoples’ own tongues. The market area in Tel Aviv is a hub of many nationalities, the predominant ones being Sudanese and Eritreans, many of whom have been here for years after having fled the fighting in their respective countries.
There are also a number of migrant workers who are here illegally but yet they too need the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Saturday afternoon we were back in the Old City before attending the Fellowship meeting in the evening after which a few of us went to Ben Yehuda street where each Saturday a group of South Korean believers sing Gospel songs in Korean. This always attracts a crowd so it’s a good opportunity to distribute the Scriptures and share the Gospel when able. A couple from Holland were unhappy about us sharing with the Jewish people as they were under the misapprehension that they don’t need the Gospel as The Lord already has a covenant with them, yet this Dutch couple said they too were Christians. Sadly, in Israel, there are many who believe this forgetting that The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said, I am the way, the truth and the life and no-one comes unto the Father except through Me. The lady in particular was very irate and would not accept The Word of God when we shared it with her.
On Monday a three day conference organized by Arab Christians began in a hotel on the Mount of Olives. One of the speakers was a prominent Arab Christian evangelist who has had numerous death threats and has a bounty on his head, yet he continues to share the Gospel with zeal to Muslims. He does not fear for his life as he knows that it is in the hands of The Lord.
There was a group of Christians from South Africa attending the conference and stated that they too would like to join us in the Old City evangelizing. An American man was among the group and he too was keen.
The following Saturday evening on Ben Yehuda street there was a group of four of us sharing the Gospel amongst all who would listen, however this turned into a fracas due to the Ultra Orthodox Jews becoming very upset. W e told to leave and were abused by some rather loudly. Two of us were hit on the back of our heads by an extremely irate young Orthodox man. However, there were many Jewish people who were not happy with their behaviour and voiced their dissent accordingly. A few other Christians also tried to intervene to protect us. The Police were at the end of the street and upon seeing what we had been distributing, told the Orthodox and others that there was nothing wrong with what we had been doing.
Sunday morning we spent the time evangelizing with a group of Christians from America, half of whom went to distribute back packs to children and the other half of us to share the Gospel again in the Old City.
Thanks and be blessed Antony and Dona Simon
